Supporting purebred dogs for more than 80 years
Blue & Gray Cluster --
four days of back-to-back shows!!!
The Blue and Gray Cluster Dog Shows, comprised of the Lebanon County, Harrisburg, and Mason & Dixon Kennel Clubs, will be holding four all-breed dog shows in Expo Hall of the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center. These shows will be held on:
•Thursday, April 14, 2016 (Lebanon County Kennel Club) •Friday, April 15, 2016 (Lebanon County Kennel Club) •Saturday, April 16, 2016 (Harrisburg Kennel Club) •Sunday, April 17, 2016 (Mason & Dixon Kennel Club)
Each day will feature an American Kennel Club (AKC) sanctioned all-breed dog show with more than 150 different breeds of dogs competing in conformation competition. Conformation judging is based on the dog’s appearance and how well the judge feels that the dog fits the standard, or description, for its breed.
Saturday's and Sunday’s shows will feature a Meet the Breeds area where people can visit with different breeds of dogs and their owners. Meet the Breeds gives potential dog owners a chance to meet familiar breeds of dogs and breeds that are new to the AKC and to speak with the dogs' owners to learn more about the breeds.
If your dog loves to jump, you can put that energy to good use! On Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 AM to noon and 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, the Harrisburg and Mason & Dixon Kennel Clubs will host a feature called “My Dog can do That!” Bring your dog to the My Dog can do That booth and let them tackle some beginning agility obstacles with the help of professional trainers. There will also be information on where to find agility and obedience training classes in your community. The My Dog can do That feature is free to try. Your dog must be at least six months old, have proof of a rabies vaccination, and must be on a leash.
Nearly 35 vendors will be at the shows with canine-related items, including dog food and treats, canine art, clothing, and pet supplies. These vendors can provide everything a dog owner needs to make their dog a happy and healthy dog, and provide many unique items found only at dog shows.
Judging schedule information is available on the Jim Rau Dog Shows website, www.raudogshows.com/jp.html, one week prior to the date of the shows.
A portion of the proceeds of these events goes to canine-related charities, including the HKC K-9 Foundation, Inc., which supports the dogs of the Harrisburg Police K-9 Unit, and local service groups that assist with the shows.
Under AKC regulations, only dogs entered in the show or participating in My Dog can do That may attend the show. For safety reasons, no strollers will be allowed in the building.
