A More Robust Web Site for Members If a member desires a more detailed web site than the basic one-page site available to members, one can produced for you at a special member price. Benefits of a Web Site for a Member The PURPOSE of having a web site is to enable club members to benefit from an Internet presence. Over time, their Kennels should be able to achieve additional exposure in ways over which they have control. A web presence can reduce printing costs by the ability to direct people to the “always up-to-date” web site. No more re-printing costs when business practices or procedures change. It would also tend to reduce the length of phone call inquiries (especially beneficial when the call is long distance!). Kennel owners would be able to direct potential clients to pictures, pedigrees and other information about the dogs they are using for breeding. Information could also be shared throughout the various networking opportunities specific to their breed. If you use newspaper advertising to promote your kennel or services that you offer, your ads can be much smaller if you refer people to a web page for more detailed information. And of course business cards, brochures or other advertising could carry the ever-more-powerful phrase “Visit us on the web at www.ourkennelname.com”. Special Website Packages Packages are available to fit your needs and budget, and include not only consultation, design, construction and maintenance on the site, but also submission to major search engines. Examples of some of the packages available include:

quality web presence The process of constructing a site would include consultation and data gathering time as well as production time. Experience shows that this type of site usually represents at least 15-20 hours of time for the smallest sites (up to 50 or more hours for a larger one). About 2/3 of the time is spent educating the client about web sites, working through basic concepts and developing a layout, color scheme, processing photos, compiling and editing text copy and layout, etc. And of course the time to help choose a domain name, and choose a hosting service, and submit the information to search engines. The pages would be able to contain any legitimate information or graphics of the Member's choice. Images up to twice the number of pages would be processed at no additional charge (for example, a 10-page site could include up to a total of 20 images). You can provide your own pictures or graphics (including logos), or use stock images from available resources. Additional images, image processing (special effects) or graphics research and design can be added for an additional charge. The size and complexity of your site is up to you. Suggestions for page types (in addition to the home page) and components could include such categories as:
… and many other options and components Your site would be submitted for inclusion in the top 20 search engines. Search Engine Performance Monitoring would be provided for 90 days for up to 10 search terms (Results Emailed weekly). HOSTING OPTIONS: In order for your web site to "work", and to be viewed by people from the Internet, it must be "hosted" on a special computer called a Server, which can be accessed by anyone via the World Wide Web. Hosting service is available from a broad variety of sources, depending on your requirements. The site must have its own unique Domain Name or URL (Uniform Resource Locator) -- the "address" of the site. For the purposes of this type of site, there are two basic hosting choices. [A] The member would register their own Domain Name and obtain their own hosting service on a private hosting server. Payment for the Domain Name (annual -- about $15-$35, depending on the length of the commitment) and Hosting Service (monthly -- about $20-30) would be paid directly to the providers. Help would be provided to set that up and obtain the domain name if you wish (for NO additional handling or processing charge), or you can do it independently. The “address” for this type of website would be something like [This type of address is far preferred and will enable your site to be found more easily in search engines. It offers you broader freedom and is viewed by the public as an independent entity.] [B] Alternately, HKC could offer to “lease space” on its web site to host these member sites, for an annual fee to be determined by the club. The “address” for this type of website would be [This type of site would have to include the HKC Disclaimer found on the One-Page site. Member pages hosted by HKC may not include music files. The site would also be subject to HKC rules and guidelines regarding content.] For additional
