Harrisburg Kennel Club Gives Back
Proceeds from HKC's shows and events help support a variety of canine-related charities, including many that are active in our local community, nationally, and American Kennel Club specific charities.  Some of the charities assisted throughout the years have been:
The AKC Canine Health Foundation is dedicated to advancing the health of all dogs and their owners by funding sound scientific research and supporting the dissemination of health information to prevent, treat, and cure canine disease.
The AKC Reunite Canine Support & Relief Fund was established as a permanent charitable fund with the goals of providing resources, support, funds, & other assistance to not-for-profit canine search & rescue organizations, not-for-profit veterinary units providing support to the canine rescue teams, & not-for-profit animal shelters & similar not-for-profit organizations providing care for domestic animals orphaned or displaced as a result of natural or civil disasters. The genesis of this fund was the emergency relief fund established by AKC & AKC Reunite, which ultimately raised & distributed funds in the above three categories following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States. The permanent AKC Reunite Canine Support & Relief Fund will be in place to respond immediately in the future as needed.
Take the Lead was founded in 1993 as a not-for-profit foundation dedicated to providing direct services, support and care for all qualified participants in the sport of dogs who suffer from the devastating realities of life-threatening or terminal illnesses.
Beneficiaries of HKC charitable contributions are selected annually based on recommendations from HKC.
